Real-time anti-malware protection

Microsoft Defender’s real-time anti-malware protection runs whenever your device is on, keeping an eye out for malicious activity. Microsoft Defender will also run quick daily scans of your device, in case anything manages to elude the real-time protection. If it spots something it will attempt to block it, and alert you so that you can act if necessary.

Microsoft Defender’s web protection helps protect you against malicious sites that are being used for phishing or spreading malware. Web protection is currently available on Windows, iOS, and Android.

It does this by checking links you click on, or that an app tries to open on your device, and comparing them against Microsoft’s constantly updated list of sites known to be dangerous. If it sees you’re on your way to a site known to be dangerous, it’ll warn you.

Microsoft tracks more than 65 trillion signals daily, helping security teams identify vulnerabilities with greater efficacy and stay ahead of today’s threats.
